The Wolverine Jazz Band was founded in December, 1995 and has operated estensively since then in all six New England states as well as New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland, playing "Traditional Jazz" - a blend of dixieland, New Orleans, Swing and other styles as well. With sixteen CDs to our credit we have become well known on the national circuit, playing jazz festivals in Florida, Ohio, Washington, Arizona, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Colorado as well as the Northeast. We feature music from the 1890's through the 1950's (and occasionally beyond) performed by seven of the best players in the style in the world. The regular personnel consists of Jeff Hughes (cornet/trumpet), Tom Boates (trombone), John Clark (clarinet/saxophones), Ross Petot (piano), Jimmy Mazzy (banjo and vocals), Rick MacWilliams (tuba) and David Didriksen (drums). We have also featured nationally known performers such as Dave Whitney (trumpet), Robin Verdier (piano), Noel Kaletsky (reeds), Bob Barta (banjo and vocals) and Bob Connors (trombone) at various times.
