Creating is a magnificent puzzle, which comes without directions, whose solutions are the result of an exploration into the possible. I have always been a narrative artist. My work is the medium through which I weave my story. Capturing everyday quiet moments in people's lives and elevating these interactions holds endless potential. I seek to create a space where the viewer can interact with the art. They can create and interpret the narrative in their own way. At first glance the work may appear familiar. Upon slow reflection it will begin to reveal its complexity. The pieces may be portraits, powerful landscapes or multi media sculptures. The genre is not what is important. The conversation/interaction between the viewer and the art is front and center. This interaction is a dialogue between reality, the spiritual and the possible.

Virginia Zimmermann is an artist working in various media ranging from drawing, painting, printmaking, basket weaving, to mixed media collage. She earned her B.F.A. from Parsons School of Design and her M.S. Education/Sixth Year from Southern Connecticut State University. Virginia is an experienced artist/art educator. She taught for 26 years in the Fairfield Public Schools. She has conducted workshops in North Dakota and Connecticut. Her work has been exhibited in Solo, Group, Traveling and Juried Shows. She was a finalist for the Tassy Walden Award - Children's Illustration. She was awarded a REGI Grant supported in part by the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut in partnership with the CT Dept. of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, The National Endowment for the Arts, and the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission. She has twice been the recipient of the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission's Individual Artist Grants.
