NEW WEBSITE: www.WisdomInOurCommunity.com. I am a Master Teaching Artist and a Registered Expressive Arts Consultant and Educator for over twenty years, bringing visual and expressive arts projects to senior citizens, hospice patients and their families, schools, libraries, hospitals, museums and other venues for people of all ages, from pre-k to senior citizens. In 2021 I trained to be a Vermont Life Time Arts Teaching Artist and in the same year was awarded a National Arts Strategies Creative Community Fellowship. My fellowship project is called "Wisdom In Our Community" which transforms negative ideas about aging in our culture by documenting the personal histories of senior citizens through visual arts and written storytelling. For the past two years, I have participated in the creation of projects for the Central Vermont Council on Aging's Creative Care Kit. This program is designed to bring arts and crafts projects to over 200 homebound senior citizens in the Central Vermont area.
A fun music program I bring to your community is a five-piece ukulele band called The Green Mountain Strummers. My group plays music from the "Tin Pan Alley" era, which is the early 1900's to the late 1940's. We travel with music lyric books for audiences to use, as we are a sing-along band.
I have a Masters Degree from Wesleyan University in Fine Arts. I create my own original projects to fit the need of the venue or group. My projects consist of personal history arts projects that include The Life Path Project (a map of a person's life), Collage Your Kin projects, Personal History Poems, Murals about Climate Change painted on walls, backer boards or recycled oil drums, Mosaic Arts using pre-made ceramic or stained glass tiles, Doodle Art, Mask Making, Woodland Fairy & Elf Environments, and much more.
I am a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist, Consultant and Educator through the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association. I have over twenty years of experience working with healing arts and bringing legacy projects to terminally ill patients in hospice progarms. In the past, I have worked at St. Francis Hospital's Integrative Medicine Dept., Hartford, CT, as an expressive arts specialist and pastoral counselor. I have worked as an expressive arts therapist at the Kennedy Center, VSA Arts in Connecticut, Masonicare Hospice and many other venues such as schools, hospitals, and programs for people with developmental disabilities.
