Institution/Business Type: Artist / Creative (Individual)

I have been teaching art and creative practices in Vermont to youth and adults for over twenty years. I have worked with River Arts ( a nonprofit community arts center), South Burlington High School, Essex High School, Lake Champlain Waldorf School, Vermont Commons School and the University of Vermont. I also currently work as an architectural and landscape design photographer. In January of 2020 I took on the role of Creative Advisor for the Yellow Tulip Project. This nonprofit organization’s mission is “to smash the stigma surrounding mental illness and to build a community of people who realize that hope happens when youth and community leaders work together.”

I studied art history and printmaking at Bowdoin College earning a BA in 1987. In November of 2019, I graduated from Maine Media College with an MFA in Media Studies. I am currently enrolled in a graduate certificate program at Lesley University titled, Arts in Health. I am an Artist-in-Residence at the Vermont Studio Center in July, 2020. I am part of a five-year traveling show celebrating the Life and Legacy fo Lawrence Halprin (Landscape Architect). Since 2009 I have participated in the annual Penny Cluse One Word - 100 Artists show. I was a featured photographer in Professional Photographer Magazine in June, 2012 in an article titled, “Drawn to light: In Architecture, Light Brings Design to Life”. I was the photographer for two books with local artist and author, Nick Neddo. The Organic Artist and The Organic Artist for Kids are books that I reference and use in my own art-making and in my curricula.

ARTIST STATEMENT: I create emotive, primal, and sensory-based experiences in spaces using a variety of materials and mediums. My art is integrated with the natural elements and seasons, awakening the sacred energy of the divine feminine. The lived experience is embedded, entangled, and unfurled in light, rain, fire, forests, snow, fields, birdsong, and the wind. The regenerative and cyclical nature of my art connects me and others to our natural surroundings, creativity, and community. Layers of existence establish the groundwork for me to express the essence of my own embodied experience through my art. My process contributes significantly to the work I do to increase awareness about mental health and the health of our earth.
