Institution/Business Type: Performing Group

Silverthorne Theater Company is a professional theater organization founded in 2014 whose mission is to bring excellence in performance to adventurous drama, combining the best of the theatrical repertoire while also promoting unheard voices and under-served populations. Based in Franklin County in Western Massachusetts, we stage new work as well as plays from the canon that we feel deserve a new look.

We are the resident theater company at the Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center in the Downtown Greenfield Cultural District. Our mainstage season consists of three to four four shows spaced throughout the year, with special events (one-off performances, fundraisers, readings, holiday shows, etc.) interspersed throughout. Our performance space on the top floor (The Perch) accommodates an audience of 90, is elevator accessible and air-conditioned.

We are particularly interested in functioning as part of the creative economy of the underserved region of Franklin County, both through the personnel we hire and in the audiences we serve. Our actors and directors live and work in the area, and we partner with local businesses to boost the cultural profile of the region and promote the burgeoning entertainment scene in Greenfield and beyond.
