Shakespeare to Hiphop

Institution/Business Type: Performing Group

Shakespeare to Hiphop is the combined poetic and educational talents of literary performers Regie Gibson and Marlon Carey. Both have been featured on various TED events and have profound experience with literary and spoken word traditions that have shaped their mission: to help cultivate and nurture a love of words and an understanding of the power of language.

Regie Gibson and Marlon Carey are two individuals on a mission. Both are literary performers, poets, mentors, and educators. Though separated by a decade in age, Regie and Marlon are congruent on key ideals that make them quite effective as a team. Collaborative efforts include The Shakespeare Time-traveling SpeakEasy, an inspirational, informative, intriguing and inspiring literary performance presentation that travels to schools across the New England Area and beyond. Through all-school assemblies and in-class workshops, in private schools, public schools, and libraries,  these gentlemen have garnered much praise from students and teachers alike for their ability to make the written word come alive.

By embracing the traditions and foundations of the past and the best of the present, Shakespeare to Hiphop connects with students of all ages in ways that are literary, lively and fun.

Shakespeare to Hiphop will make a positive impact on your school’s culture, help teachers achieve their teaching goals, and help students progress towards greater comprehension and appreciation of the literary arts.
