Hailed by the Boston Globe as a "sure-fingered guitar virtuoso" guitarist/percussionist Randy Armstrong performs on a collection of over 300 instruments from around the world including acoustic, synthesizer and classical guitars, as well as instruments from Africa, India, South America, and Asia. He has performed at such prestigious concert venues as Carnegie Recital Hall and Lincoln Center. Randy has been a composer and performer with Do'a World Music Ensemble, Unu Mondo & Beyond Borders as well as adjunct faculty at Phillips Exeter Academy and Plymouth State University. He scored the original music soundtrack for the four-part PBS series Dinner on the Diner, and over 20 nationally released albums. He has been the recipient of numerous grants and commissions. Randy performs solo and with Beyond Borders and has conducted workshops for thousands of students at schools, universities, and cultural institutions throughout the country. He was on tour in Slovenia, Croatia and South Africa in 2007; Cuba in 2012 and Puerto Rico in 2014. He composed and perform an original score for the Phillips Exeter Academy theater production of THE MAHABHARATA in 2014 and celebrates the release, BEYOND BORDERS, nominated for "Best World Album" by the ZMR Awards in 2015. His original recorded scores for THE CONFERENCE OF THE BIRDS and SOUNDWAVES premiered in the San Francisco Bay area in 2016 and 2017, respectively. In 2022, Armstrong received a grant from the NH State Council for the Arts & NEA to record & compose music for the original stage production, CHOOSE LOVE. He has co-produced an Arts in Health video series, Drumming For Parkinson's with the Annie's Angels Foundation. For over 30 years, Randy has worked with special needs students and at risk populations as well as health and healing music programs.
