Institution/Business Type: Community Service Organization

A Queen's Narrative is a BIPOC women-led empowerment organization that uses storytelling to uplift and inspire women and girls. Our mission is to harness the power of narrative to empower women to become the best versions of themselves. Since our founding in 2018, we've created a safe, inclusive space where women and girls can network, learn, and build connections that foster leadership and community.

In 2018, we identified a critical gap: few spaces existed where women of color could safely share personal and professional experiences within a predominantly white society. Many women, mainly from marginalized communities, struggle to have their voices heard and their stories valued. By offering platforms for them to tell their stories, we amplify their voices, helping them build self-confidence and leadership skills. Our core program areas include youth development, narrative storytelling, networking, and social engagement.

Our youth engagement program mentors girls ages 12-18 and encourages creative expression. The program is structured around a thematic curriculum that helps participants develop leadership, teamwork, and peer relationships. Through initiatives like “Authentic Me” and “Double Dutch,” girls explore authenticity and build confidence. We also offer youth-focused curriculums, such as Young Queens 101—which fosters self-esteem and confidence—and Birth of an Artist, designed to nurture creative expression and artistic talent.

To strengthen community connections and foster social engagement, we host Queen CONVO events, workshops, and fundraising brunches. These gatherings provide opportunities for women and girls to explore topics like interpersonal relationships, mental wellness, self-care, storytelling, and women’s health in a supportive environment. Our events also celebrate the resilience and diversity of women of color while addressing important issues within our communities.

Our Narrative Storytelling initiative includes a newsletter, monthly blog stories, and anthologies. The launch of the anthology highlighted the demand for stories from women of color, attracting attention within Hampden County and across the U.S. The book, featuring 22 authors, offers powerful stories on topics such as domestic and intimate partner violence, mental health, addiction, generational trauma, resilience, Black maternal health, and healing. The project has been transformative for both the authors and the readers, creating a ripple of impact and connection.
