PCFF presents the best of independent and international children’s cinema to inspire, delight, educate, and connect a diverse community of children and families from Rhode Island and throughout New England.
THE ANNUAL FESTIVAL
The annual Providence Children’s Film Festival takes place in February at several venues within walking distance of downtown Providence, with over eight full days of screenings, film-making workshops, and free activities, along with post-film conversations that help deepen the film-watching experience and foster critical thinking skills. As part of our annual Festival, PCFF is committed to nurturing the work of young "amateur" filmmakers. We present a juried program of films made by youth and provide an opportunity for young filmmakers to talk about both the fun and the challenges they face during the creative process.
At the February 2015 festival, we will also present our 2nd annual Youth Filmmaker Show, which nurtures and promotes the work of young filmmakers from around the world.
“Brilliant selection of films that once again offered eye-opening & mind-expanding alternatives to what one finds on TV and at the multiplex.” - Roger
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMMING
PCFF presents films of the same high quality and film-related educational programming throughout the year. Now in our 6th year, PCFF has become more than just one of the top film festivals in the country dedicated to programming for children and youth.
Providence Community Library believes the arts has an ability to elevate and inspire our community……especially important for our youth who are in the midst of deciding who they might become; looking around their neighborhoods for examples and options. Organizations like the Providence Children’s Film Festival can help to inspire and broaden the views of our young patrons; letting them know that a bigger world is out there and that they have access to it. By engaging them with media from around the world PCFF is encouraging our youth to take part in a global conversation; regardless of their socioeconomic background.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
To broaden the reach of our programming beyond February, we have expanded collaborations with peer organizations in Rhode Island to provide screenings and other opportunities for youth to learn from and engage with film. Youth-oriented partner organizations include: AS220, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Providence, Providence Children’s Museum, Providence CityArts, Providence Athenaeum Children’s Library, Rhode Island Museum of Science and Arts (RIMOSA), Providence Community Library, RIOLIS, and the RISD Museum.
The Providence Children’s Film Festival (PCFF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
