NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY - CENTER FOR THE ARTS

  • M

    MA

Institution/Business Type: Arts Center

Northeastern’s Center for the Arts, based in the College of Arts, Media and Design, makes creative expression an integral part of the Northeastern experience. The programming of the Center for the Arts provides opportunities for students to express themselves, be inspired by creative thinking, build self-confidence and expand their cultural awareness.

Our artist-in-residence program brings professional studio artists and designers onto campus and into the classroom. Through our residency program and community-based collaborations, the Center has also become a model for supporting creative practice that emphasizes citizenship, positive impact, civic engagement and social justice.

Public art on campus is inspirational, bringing vitality and energy to our urban campus. By working with commissioned artists in public space, the entire Northeastern community has the opportunity to experience and participate in the artistic process.

Performance is often a way that cultures express themselves. On a diverse campus, like ours, the arts can help us learn from and better understand each other. Each year the Center presents free music, dance and theatre performances.

The Center also fosters creative research, innovation, collaboration and new forms of knowledge by supporting several lecture series, symposia and conferences though out the academic year.
