Nicole Henkel is based in Stamford, CT and is studying to obtain a BA in Dance, BS in Psychology, and is in the Honors Program at Springfield College. Henkel began her tap and contemporary training at Center Stage Dance Studio in Stamford, CT, where she found her inspiration for experiencing dance as an emotional outlet. Primarily inspired by the styles of tap and contemporary, she has choreographed adjudicated and non-adjudicated works for venues such as the American College Dance Association (2022, 2023) and Springfield College (2020- Present). Henkel is actively expanding her vocabulary in the styles of contemporary, tap, jazz, modern, ballet, West African, improvisation, musical theater, and hip hop. Entranced by rhythm and music, she is inspired to captivate audiences through power, passion, and storytelling in dance and choreography.

Under the direction of Sarah Zehnder, Henkel is a dancer for the Springfield College Touring Repertory Company (2019-Present). Henkel has performed works by Didy Veldman, Tatiana Desardouin, Darell Grand Moultrie, Kodee Van Nort, Maureen Shea, Jen Polins, Monica Bill Barnes, Winston Dynamite Brown, Jason Aryeh, Tara Murphy, Lani Nahele (aka Lisa Schmidt), Sarah Zehnder, and JoAnn LoRusso. In the pursuit of furthering her dance education, she has attended workshops such as ACDA, National Dance Education Organization, Beyond the Proscenium, Dancewave’s Arts Educator Training. Henkel has attended Bates Dance Festival (2022), David Dorfman Winter Intensive (2022, 2023), and Florence Summer Dance Intensive (2022).

In addition to working with dance artists, she has extensive theater performance experience. Inspired by theater's power for both the performer and audience member. Henkel has acted in comedic roles (Noises Off, 2018) as well as dramatic roles (Leaves, 2019). Henkel has taken lead as both an assistant director (Willy Wonka, 2018) and as dance captain, (The Drowsy Chaperone, 2021; Matilda, 2019; The Addams Family, 2019; Bye Bye Birdie, 2018; The Wiz, 2018; The Wizard of Oz, 2017; All Shook Up, 2017; Mary Poppins, 2016; Seussical, 2016). As co-choreographer, tap choreographer, and choreographer, she has choreographed production numbers in various shows. Connecting her passions of arts and academics, she has helped create an honors course at Springfield College to encompass her interests and knowledge of dance to investigate how movement affects the human psyche.
