Little River Designs is named after a river that meanders through the property where my studio is located. My jewelry business began as most do, a hobby. I started first designing jewelry to go with particular outfits for myself, then extending to friends and relations. I enjoy being able to look at the mood, print and colors of an outfit, and create an ensemble to match it. The most exciting moment for me was seeing my jewelry on the runway at the 2012 Mercedes fashion show in Miami Fl.
I am also a graphite and oil paint artist and avid outdoors women, I hike, run, snowmobile and kayak among other things. Spending a lot of time outdoors influences my art work which includes the jewelry I create. I see my pieces as art in itself. An expression of what I am feeling at the time of it’s creation by using the colors of the stones, crystal and metal to create a mood and style much the same as I would with a paint brush. I believe what a customer is looking for is that essential part of the artist. This is what they are really buying. It’s not just the object; it is everything that has gone into making the piece from the influences and thought process of the design to the completed product.
