Lenelle Moïse is the author of HAITI GLASS (City Lights/Sister Spit), a winner of the 2015 PEN Oakland Josephine Miles Literary Award for excellence in literature. A poet and playwright, she creates powerful, genre-defying performances that explore the intersections of race, class, gender, sexual identity, and memory. Her one-woman shows include WORD LIFE, an autobiographical coming-of-age story, SPEAKING INTERSECTIONS, an investigation of queer poetics and prose, and WHERE THERE ARE VOICES, a theatrical and musical treatment of HAITI GLASS.

Moïse was a 2012-2014 Huntington Theatre Company Playwriting Fellow. She wrote, composed, and co-starred in the critically acclaimed Off Broadway drama EXPATRIATE. Her play MERIT won the Ruby Prize and made the 2016 Kilroys List. Her other plays include THE MANY FACES OF NIA, CORNERED IN THE DARK and PURPLE. Her work has been developed with the Culture Project, the Hansberry Project, Hedgebrook, the Jewish Plays Project, Kitchen Theatre Company, Serious Play Theatre Ensemble, Southern Rep Theatre, New Repertory Theatre, and The New Black Fest at the Lark Play Development Center, among others. Her writing is featured in several anthologies, including Word Warriors: 35 Women Leaders in the Spoken Word Revolution (Seal Press). She tours regularly and lives in Northampton, Massachusetts where she was the 2010-2011 Poet Laureate.
