Kevin Doyle is a master of Irish step dance who learned his first steps from his mother, a native of Roscommon, who taught her children to dance in their Providence home accompanied by her lilted tunes. A lifelong dancer, Kevin was a U.S. Champion Irish step dancer in his early competitive years, and has been entertaining audiences ever since with his traditional style of "close to the ground" rhythms and intricate foot work. He also was just awarded a National Fellowship from The National Endowment For The Arts!! Kevin's style represents the generations of Irish who made a new home in America…a memory which is reinforced with each kick or pounding step, and his tap-dancing provides the soundtrack to a uniquely American dance story. Irish dance forms, and tap dance, as conveyed by Kevin Doyle are appropriate in schools and other arts and education settings. Classroom presentations, performances for groups of students, and lecture/demonstrations with workshops for students and/or teachers will meet arts GSE's in dance or music. This artist is also appropriate for collaborations with humanities teachers working with Historical Perspectives/RI History GSE's. All ages. Kevin also plays percussion with Pendragon and Atwater-Donnelly and is available for drum circles or lessons on the Irish drum, the ' bodhran or the African jembe'. Kevin is available for performances, workshops in Irish step and American Tap.
