Kat Nasti is the Artistic Director, founder, and choreographer of Kat Nasti Dance. She creates work that is rooted in a strong classical technique layered with dynamism, physicality, athleticism, and theatricality.
Kat has worked within a range of dance forms and theatricalities including Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Acrobatics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Circus Arts (Lyra, Silks, and Trapeze), and created an aerial track Harness piece on Lisa Giobbi, under her tutelage.
Kat is passionate about women’s issues and arts entrepreneurship. She received her MBA from Lehigh University, where she was a Graduate Teaching Fellow and Founder and President of the Lehigh University Chapter of the National Association of Women MBAs. She was a speaker on the topic of Community Entrepreneurship for TedX-Lafayette and Idex-Lehigh. Kat currently hosts a microblog called the Dance Entrepreneurs Funding Think Tank which disseminates information and research on relevant and timely topics in the current funding spectrum for the arts. She also created a fellowship program in conjunction with Jessica Marino of JAMpress Management, called the Dance Management Fellowship, which offers young female dance administrators the opportunity to assist in producing an APAP showcase annually.
While living and working in Bethlehem, PA, she established a community organization called the Lehigh Valley Dance Exchange (LVDE) - an organization which supports emerging choreographers and dancers of the Lehigh Valley. In their inaugural season, LVDE successfully produced 12 shows, which included over 20 choreographers and 50 dancers.
She is an avid traveler and spent 2012-13 living in Korea and China, where she studied Traditional Korean Dance and 2015 living in Sofia, Bulgaria. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2013 with an MFA in Dance. Her research has been published in the Journal of Dance Medicine and Science and presented at CORD/SDHS. She is currently on faculty at Providence College and is the Executive and Artistic Director of Green Street Studios, in Cambridge, MA.
