J&J/ CoGRAVITY
Founded in the spirit of nomadism and chance, CoGRAVITY is a dance focused 24/7 collaboration between Jen Passios and Jacob Regan. Initially devised out of necessity (submitting work often requires delegating a title to the performance ensemble - go figure), the name stuck as a representation of the partnership that marks all aspects of life for the dynamic duo. Honing in on the realities of every day, from cohabitation to collaboration, the pair utilizes performance, teaching, creation, and improvisation as entry points for investigating movement as a radical act of physical empathy. Their first co-creation, Terms & Conditions, a six episode saga featuring flying antics, text games, and improvisational oddities, set to a score by Iranian born composer Bita Bell, premiered at the Boulder Fringe Festival in 2018 (Hibner-Brown Award). The pair’s performance style has been dubbed “Masterful dancing with wonderful nuance and sensitivity” (Mary Wohl Haan - Boulder Office of Arts + Culture). The pair recently embarked on their first year long tour of the United States to research the intersections of contact improvisation, contemporary dance, and regional culture. Jen Passios
Dancer by day, wordsmith by night, Jen Passios is a nomadic artist-athlete and educator with a vivid imagination and a knack for spot on description.
Tapping into her enthusiasm for all things that crawl, Jen received dual degrees in Dance and Biology from Mount Holyoke College (Magna Cum Laude). She now utilizes that connection to animal physicality in performance - most recently with Boston Dance Theater and Lorraine Chapman the Company, through her education of young movers, and while throwing her body at other human-animals during weekly contact improvisation jams
An aficionado of marathon driving and early morning espresso, she has traveled extensively across the United States, holding ties to several dance communities including those in San Francisco, CA; Houston, TX; Durham, NC; and Boulder, CO where she and partner Jacob Regan premiered their first work “Terms & Conditions” (Hibner-Brown Award, Boulder Fringe Festival Award) under the alias J&J in 2018.
During her half-decade in Boston, Jen has engaged in performance opportunities ranging from the First Friday Series at the Institute of Contemporary Art, to the 2018 New Balance International Conference, and the Inside/Out Festival at Jacob’s Pillow. She will receive her first on-screen dance credit upon the December 2019 release of the feature length film “Little Women” (Columbia Pictures) directed by Greta Gerwig and choreographed by Monica Bill Barnes.
When she isn’t dancing, Jen can be found innovating product names, linguistically archiving her travels, and flaunting her flip-phone which she has proudly dubbed “The Dinosaur”.

Jacob Regan
Jacob Regan grew up in North Carolina where he began his movement studies with capoeira, accumulating skills in breaking and contemporary dance during his high school years at Northwest School of the Arts.
While furthering his studies at East Carolina University (B.F.A. Dance Performance and Choreography, Philosophy minor), he discovered a deep passion for both dance choreography and contact improvisation, the latter of which he has continued to deepen his understanding of as a facilitator and frequent jammer with Contact Improvisation Boston and JP Contact Improvisation.
For the last 4 years, Jacob has lived in the Boston area creating, teaching, and performing with Urbanity Dance, Prometheus Dance, Lorraine Chapman the Company, and as a freelance artist.
As a wanderer, Jacob has connected with communities across the United States, from presenting a self created solo at BAM (New York), to dancing with his much better half as the dynamic duo J&J in an evening of dance they created together at the Boulder Fringe Festival (Colorado), and diversifying his training through the Fact SF Summer Dance Lab (California) and multiple iterations of the Doug Varone and Dancers Summer Workshop (New York) and many years of the Contact Improv Boston annual May Jam (Massachusetts).
