I have been working in “multi- media” most of my working life—painting, sculpture, film, audio and site-specific installation—in pieces that have explored narrative and non-narrative viewpoints.
Currently, I am exploring the sequential nature of these mediums and how a body of art can work both as a meta-narrative arc with associated sub-narratives. In this intentionally formed space, loosely associated thematic elements can be read as highly connected actors in a single unified environment or as lesser connected actions operating within said world. By sharing assets across platforms, I take concepts from both the creative and the tech world to build a mise-en scene that shares concepts and viewpoints.
Highly informed by the cut ‘n paste visual styles of punk and poster art and using imagery from nature and pop culture, each piece—from painting to film to audio— can work as a “chapter” within the larger body of work. Titles work with panels to create montages that are then added—in or out of sequence—into the larger body and function inside a self-contained “meta-verse” of UFOs, three-eyed babies, mysterious sounds, strange lights, and nostalgic cold-war paranoia.
