VT
Established in 1997, the Green Mountain Film Festival is a non-competitive festival showcasing narrative, documentary, and experimental features and shorts from all over the world – nestled in the mountains of Vermont. The festival’s 2025 Official Sponsor is the Norman J. Fisher and Doris Fisher Foundation and the Presenting Sponsor is Sarducci’s Restaurant and Bar.
GMFF typically runs a multi-day film festival in Montpelier, VT in mid-late March with screenings at the Savoy Theater and the Capitol Theater, complimented with additional non-film programs, which include talks, Q&As, industry panels, networking sessions, exhibitions, and parties.
The project is mostly volunteer-run and is currently a fiscally-sponsored project of ORCA Media, the local community access broadcast TV station. It was previously a project of Focus on Film, and its early days are documented in Rick Winstons book, Save Me a Seat! (Rootstock Publishing, 2024).
Film submissions via Film Freeway are typically in the last part of the calendar year and sponsorships and program partners are sought througnout the year.
