Institution/Business Type: Artist / Creative (Individual)

Catherine Siller is a Boston-based choreographer and multimedia artist. Her creative practice affirms queerness and transness and invites all of us, no matter how we identify, to shed gender norms and expectations that aren't serving us. It's a practice of showing up as your full self, listening, and navigating togetherness - being in community while recognizing our own unique experiences and identities.

Catherine has performed nationally and internationally, most notably at Watermans Centre (London, UK), Webmedia (João Pessoa, Brazil), The Brick Theater (Brooklyn, NY), Triskelion Arts (Brooklyn, NY), Boston Center for the Arts (Boston, MA), Boston Cyberarts Gallery (Jamaica Plain, MA), The Ammerman Center (New London, CT), Waterfire Arts Center (Providence, RI), and the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts (Providence, RI). She also creates performances for non-traditional, site-specific locations. In 2018, Downtown Boston’s Business Improvement District commissioned her solo performance "Are You Buying?" for a vacant storefront on Washington St (Boston, MA).

Catherine’s videos have screened at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC, Troy, NY), the NARS Foundation (Brooklyn, NY), the Boston Short Film Festival, and Boston’s Area Code Art Fair. Her videos and interactive video installations have been commissioned by Boston Cyberarts Gallery's "Art on the Marquee" program, Boston's Illuminus Festival, and the Somerville Arts Council's Ignite Festival.

Catherine has been awarded residencies at the Banff Center (AB, Canada) and the Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, VT), and she spent a semester at Marlboro College (now merged with Emerson) as their Mellon Fellow for Digital Media and Performance. She has received support for her work from the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), the Boston Foundation, the Somerville Arts Council, and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.

Catherine holds an MFA in Digital + Media from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a BA from Harvard. She has studied theater with the SITI Company, the Atlantic Theater Company, and at Circle in the Square. She has extensive training in ballet and contemporary dance and is an alumna of Bates Dance Festival’s Professional Training Program.
