Institution/Business Type: Arts Camp / Institute (short-term experience)

A historic Maine summer camp dedicated to the nourishment of the creative arts: theatre, dance, poetry, music, and graphic arts, and to healthy physical activities. We offer week-long multidisciplinary workshops and residencies (retreats) for artists to develop their practice while enjoying the inspiring natural environment of Bearnstow.

We welcome individual artists and small groups of collaborative partners in any discipline to submit proposals to our Artist Retreat program. We provide a place for in-depth creative exploration amid a prisĀtine, wooded lakeside setting, rich with natural beauty and a spirit of camaraderie.

Workshops at Bearnstow are intimate and rigorous, with ample space for exploration and play. Workshop schedules vary based on the instructor but typically include a morning and afternoon session with lab and recreation time planned in throughout the week. Sessions are held both indoors and outdoors. Classes are small (a max of 14 students) allowing for personal attention from instructors and a strong group dynamic.
