Balafon Quartet - Tradition Reimagined

  • M

    MA

Institution/Business Type: Performing Group

The balafon, a traditional wooden xylophone dating back to the 12th century, is central to Mande culture in West Africa. Crafted from wood and gourds, it serves not only as a musical instrument but also as a symbol of history, storytelling, and spirituality in ceremonies and celebrations.

Balafon Quartet - Tradition Reimagined presents a contemporary interpretation of traditional Mande music. The goal is to contribute to the cultural vibrancy and enrichment of any community by creating an inclusive environment for enjoyment and connection through music.

The Balafon Quartet is  available for performances and bookings. We are open to a variety of events, including library gigs, school performances, outdoor events and community outreach opportunities. Our music blends traditional Mande rhythms with engaging cultural experiences, making it a great fit for audiences of all ages.

Feel free to reach out for booking inquiries or more information about upcoming performances!
