  • Access accommodations for people who are blind, partially sighted, and have low vision

The Arts Council is committed to making this space equitable, inclusive, and accessible to the diverse range of populations within the communities we serve. For the renovation of our physical headquarters, the Arts Council worked with Gregg of Wies and Gardner Architects and Fusco Corporation and followed the ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) that provides scoping and technical requirements for accessibility to buildings and facilities by individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990.

As part of our renovation, we hired a consultant to develop and manage a Language Access Plan for the Arts Council. Our Language Access Plan helps us further aid access to not only our new venue but all our programs and services. In addition, it helps provide opportunities for active participation of populations where English is not their first language.

The Arts Council has also invested a significant amount of resources to help ensure that its website is made easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities this includes utilizing the UserWay Website Accessibility Widget that is powered by a dedicated accessibility server. The software allows our website to improve its compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
