ME
Alison Chase/Performance is a multi-media and athletic dance/theater company founded by Alison Chase in 2010. AC/P is dedicated to the development of the dramatic forms of phycial expression. By breaking down the barriers between the fields of dance, theater, performance art and technology, we bring together accomplished movers, actors, musicians, and visual artists to audiences in prosceniums and site-specific locales.
ACP creates and presents cross-disciplinary productions that fuse dance, theater, film/projection, and sound to create multidimensional storytelling. ACP’s Beyond The Proscenium pop-up performances occur in parks and public places to make the work accessible for Maine audiences who are familiar with performing arts as well as those who happen upon the events by chance.
Often called the "Mother of Invention," Ms. Chase co-founded Pilobolus Dance Theater and MOMIX, creating more than 50 works for stage. She established AC/P to more freely pursue her creative vision of bold collaborations with other artists, writers, designers, composers, photographers, filmmakers, dancers, and musicians. The company is currently celebrating its 10th season, as well as Ms. Chase's 40th anniversty co-founding MOMIX and the 50th annivrsty of her iconic choreography class at Darmouth Collge that birthed Pilobolus.
AC/P is committed to community engagement and outreach through workshops; educational outreach at local elementary and high schools; and work-in-progress showings and open rehearsals. These opportunities for all ages emphasize physical-based creativity and crack open the possibilities of collaboration across disciplines, genres, and communities.
