Tara gives lecture/demonstrations and workshops in the vibrant style of Kuchipudi. With elements of storytelling, rhythmic footwork and athletic grace, Kuchipudi relays vivid stories from Hindu mythology. "Taal Tales" offers both a history of classical Indian dance and performances of lively dance pieces. In this highly interactive program, participants are engaged by watching and participating in dance sequences, and asking and answering questions. Tara has taught and performed extensively in schools, universities, and cultural organizations since 1998, including the Boston Ballet School, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. She has been on the rosters of the Newton Public Schools, West Suburban Arts Council and Young Audiences. Tara has a degree in Dance Anthropology and speaks about dance in its cultural context and the history and religion of classical Indian dance. She combines her love of teaching and dancing in workshops and artist residencies.
