Asher Woodworth is interested in facilitating diverse experiences of being-in-the-world. He is impulsive, and believes in physical labor and the unity of opposites.
Asher's artistic background is in postmodern choreography, performance, and video. He works primarily with bodies and concepts, but also spirits, heat, plants, and computers. Asher is very influenced by the life and work of Min Tanaka, with whom he trained intensively at Body Weather Farm in Hakushu, Japan. He holds a BA in Dance and Philosophy from Bennington College.
Recently Asher has collaborated with Dean Moss (johnbrown, Voluntaries), Deborah Hay ("Dynamic"), Hana van der Kolk (Apprenticeship Project, Working Together/Declarations of Independence, SOMEWHERE), and shown work in NYC through Movement Research, Danspace Project, and AUNTS.
Asher served on the faculty at Buxton School in Williamstown, MA from 2009-2012 teaching classes in video, drama, and visual culture. In 2011 he started an arts non-profit in coastal New Hampshire called The Runnymede Project.
