VERMONT STUDIO CENTER

    VT

Institution/Business Type: Artist Colony

Vermont Studio Center (VSC) was founded by artists in 1984. We welcome artists and writers for residencies in Johnson, Vermont as well as provide robust virtual programming. Our buildings, many of them historic Vermont landmarks, overlook the Gihon River in the northern Green Mountains. Our mission is to provide studio residencies in an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form.

We provide diverse groups of creative individuals with a safe, equitable, and supportive environment to generate new work, solve artistic problems, and cultivate new connections.

Our residency provides creative people the time and space to connect, to support one another, and to advance creative practice and professional development through virtual and in-person programs. At VSC our work is centered on inclusivity, equity, and accessibility.

For decades, our residency program has offered residents and the general public an opportunity to engage with global creative communities. We invite guest writers and visual artists from around the world to join us during our residencies and mentor residents, present readings, facilitate craft talks, and give lectures that are open to the public.
