Mark Gerard McKee is native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He works on multiple projects and public art in his Connecticut studio since 1995.
The content of McKee's work work reflects on his fascination with those social, psychological and historical influences that shape perceptions of reality and how, in turn, those perceptions affect interpersonal and social relationships as well as our sense of identity. The vehicle for this exploration has been the utilization of painting mediums i.e. oil paint, canvas etc. in combination with more quotidian materials including reused wood and metal, salvaged building materials, architectural moldings and found objects. McKee's painting supports, range from old discarded doors, plywood and other materials salvaged from construction sites, dumpsters, and second-hand stores or found in the street.
Mark Gerard McKee's works are in private collections, art in public places and has been the recipient of several awards and international residencies.
