    VT

Institution/Business Type: Performing Group

Vermont's Premier West African Dance and Drum Theater, founded in 1993, is a non-profit educational and performance ensemble based in Burlington, VT. This multicultural ensemble offers traditional rhythms and dances from Guinea & Senegal West Africa. Master Artists and highly trained U.S. American artists joyfully demonstrate the complex polyrhythms played on traditional drums (djembe, doun doun, krin, balafon) accompanied by exciting choreography. Jeh Kulu performs regularly at local events, well known music venues, cultural celebrations, parties, and weddings. Our dance and drum workshops and school residencies are highly engaging for all ages and educational.  Jeh Kulu means "community" and supports building community through all that we do. Powered by the powerful spirit of West African dance and drumming, Jeh Kulu programs are sure to entertain and inspire.
