Gamelan Galak Tika Duo is a traditional Balinese gamelan "Gender Wayang", performing music that traditionally accompanies shadow puppet plays. Evan Ziporyn and Christine Southworth have spent years directing MIT's Gamelan Galak Tika, and both work as composers, making music that crosses genres and cultures. In the gender wayang duo, they perform traditional gender wayang music from the village of Sukawati, Bali, as taught to them by their teacher I Wayan Loceng. They often perform with films of Bali in the 1930s shot by composer and ethnomusicologist Colin McPhee.
