Flutist Peter H. Bloom and guitarist Mark Leighton have performed together for over 20 years, winning praise for superb musicianship and entertaining concerts. Known for virtuosity and versatility, they offer classical music, jazz, blues, and other genres. Bloom and Leighton perform in diverse jazz trios and quartets, with noted guest artists Tim Ray, piano; Dave Zox, string bass; and Ricardo Monzon, percussion, among others. The Bloom/Leighton duos, trios and quartets have appeared widely at venues including Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Public Library, the Post Office Square Concert Series, Brookhaven, Orchard Cove, Colby College (Waterville ME), Hudson River Museum in Yonkers NY, Concerts in West K (Kennebunk ME), Nichols College, Ferguson Library in Stamford CT, The Taj, Chatham Bars Inn, and many other locations across the Northeast. Bloom and Leighton are founding members of The Modernistics with acclaimed singers/tap dancers Ted and Pamela Powers. Bloom, Leighton and colleagues are experienced educators; they offer lecture-demos, classes, workshops, open rehearsals, school informances and other educational programs and community outreach. They also provide background music for weddings, parties, fundraisers, anniversaries, and other special events.
