Yasmine Ameli (she/her) is a poet, essayist, and educator whose work centers on race, gender, sexuality, history, and medicine. She has received support from Poets and Writers, Reese’s Book Club, Monson Arts, and elsewhere. Her poems and essays appear in several publications, including POETRY, Ploughshares, the Sun, and the Southern Review. Recent public readings include RAWIFest, the Elemental Salon, and Thirsty Lab.

Holding a BA in English from Johns Hopkins University and an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from Virginia Tech, Yasmine works independently as a holistic writing coach for creative writers seeking guidance on cultivating sustainable writing practices, developing and refining manuscripts, and professional development, including publication and application support. As an educator, she is passionate about demystifying the writing process, providing writers with the craft tools they need to tell their stories, and expanding access to writing and publishing resources.

In addition to formerly reading and editing for the minnesota review, Yasmine has served as a juror for grants, prizes, and fellowships sponsored by National Endowment for the Arts, Poetry Foundation, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, MASS MoCA, Straw Dog Writers Guild, Scholastic, and Minerva Rising. She regularly teaches through creative writing nonprofits, including Grub Street, Hugo House, and the Loft Literary Center as well as teaches workshops independently. She has also developed workshops for MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists program; writing conferences, including Muse and the Marketplace and Write Angles; and MFA programs at Bennington, UMass Amherst, and Lasell.
