Wood Green Empire injects the energy and savoir-faire of traditional acoustic Gypsy jazz (think Dixieland, klezmer, and swing – Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt popularized Gypsy jazz in the 1930s) into sets including Gypsy jazz, Swing-era standards and swing-fuelled original music. The result is distinctive, highly entertaining playing that’s fast and furious one moment, pleasantly melodic the next.
Wood Green Empire is a coalition of talented players who deliver the goods with high-caliber skill and a wide range of influences and experience. Our lineup and repertoire can be tailored to your needs and the size of the venue, whether it's intimate acoustic instrumental playing you desire, or a dance band with drum kit and vocalist. We usually perform with a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 6, and we've played restaurants, rock clubs, and everything in-between. We've got hours of material, and the right players to meet your needs.
