Soule Homestead Education Center is a nonprofit organization that has been serving its local community for twenty-five years. Our organization functions in a variety of ways that benefit Middleborough and the surrounding South Shore area. According to our mission statement, "The Mission of Soule Homestead Education Center is to support and maintain a community based nonprofit education center for the benefit of the area schools and the general public while preserving and enhancing the historic Soule Homestead." We accomplish all of these goals by offering a variety of different programs and services for the general public. One way Soule Homestead does this is by building good relations with the local schools and offering field trips that allow students to explore the historic 120 acre Soule Homestead and all its nature trails and farmland. In the summer, there is a farm camp for children ages 5-10 where they can learn about gardening, taking care of farm animals, and a variety of different things related to ecology and environmental science. There are also plenty of events for adults and families including community gardening, traditional crafts like rug braiding, and recreational activities such as hiking, bird watching, and picknicking.
MAIN EVENTS: Heart & Soule Valentines Dance (FEB); Winter Farm Fun Vacation Programs (FEB); Spring Farm Fun Vacation Programs (APR); Sheep Day / Earth Day Celebration (MAY); Summer Concert Series (JUL & AUG); Summer Farm Fun Vacation Programs (JUL & AUG); Harvest Fair & Joe Davies Folk Festival (SEP); Holiday Fair & Wreath Making Workshops (DEC); Winter Farm Fun Vacation Programs (DEC).
The Mission of the Soule Homestead Education Center is to support and maintain a community based non-profit education center for the benefit of area schools and the general public while preserving and enhancing the historic Soule Homestead. Hands-on learning opportunities include environmental programs and field trips, organic farming activities, traditional crafts, and cultural events.
