Institution/Business Type: Museum - Other

At the present time a group is forming interested in establishing a Quincy quarry museum. This group plans to establish a museum to show the history of quarrying and stonecutting and its relationship to the industrialization of this industry as it relates to the history of Quincy. This part of Quincy's history is being lost to future generations.

The focus of this museum will be on all areas of the granite industry. These areas will include quarrying of stone, manufacturing of stone products, transportation of the stone and buildings built of Quincy granite. Another mission will be to bring this hisory to the citizens of Quincy. We are also interested in acquiring any memorabilia related to the granite industry. All donated memorabilia will be part of the collection belonging to the Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum. Any pictures will be scanned and returned.

The Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum is a Quincy based organization and is not affiliated with a group called Blue Hill Adventure and Quarry Museum. There has been some confusion and misinformation given out about our group's relationship with Blue Hill Adventure and Quarry Museum. If there are any questions related to this matter, please contact us at quincyquarrymuseum@verizon.net or call 617-472-1322 or write us at Quincy Quarry Museum, P.O. Box 690724, Quincy, MA 02269.

Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum is a 501c(3) organization. Membership and contributions are tax deductible to extent provided by law.
