Institution/Business Type: Museum - Other

Chesterwood is an historic country estate that was once the summer home of Daniel Chester French (1850-1931), America's foremost sculptor of public monuments of his day.  He created the iconic Minute Man and Abraham Lincoln for the Lincoln Memorial. The site includes French's home and studio; collections galleries of sculpture, paintings and objects; and 122 acres of designed gardens, woodland trails and mountain views. The site is open May through October with docent-led tours.  Each season the site holds a contemporary outdoor sculpture exhibition, as well as being host to affiliated and in-house artist residencies. Other art forms are also celebrated throughout the season in dance, music and literary performances.
