Artist’s Statement
Miniature forms, color and fire are the three things that led me to find my place in art.
Miniature: My love of tiny things began as a young child. If there was a miniature version of anything - I wanted it! Beads in particular were a favorite.
Color: The light in a cloud streaked sky, the striations of color in a mountain range, and the thousands of shades of green in a garden - just a few of the everyday inspiration for my work.
Fire: In the 1990’s I began creating my own small works of glass art, using an oxygen and propane fueled torch. Melting glass is both exhilarating and relaxing. I continue to look for new ways to incorporate heat in my work and using a handheld torch to fuse layers and layers of wax on to wooden substrates.
I am a lucky girl to be able to spend hours every day creating small, colorful, hot things!
