Mollie S. Burke's training as a dancer and figure skater is evident in the circular patterns and flowing movement of her richly colored oil paintings. Vines, flowers, water, and trees create a current, drawing the viewer into an inner world grounded in home and nature. Her intricately designed work has been described as a "tapestry of movement and meaning."

Mollie S. Burke received an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College. She taught art for a number of years at several Vermont public and private schools She currently serves in the Vermont Legislature, representing the town of Brattleboro.

She offers school residencies and workshops for children and teachers on the following themes: Illuminated Manuscript Design, Interdisciplinary Arts and Literacy, Portrait Painting in the American Folk Tradition, and Poster Art and Energy Efficiency. These themes can be incorporated into classroom studies.

Burke's residency titled "Maps by Hand: The Land, History, and Culture of Vermont" has been offered a number of times to 4th graders to accompany their studies of Vermont.
