Lynn Modell/Making Dances

Institution/Business Type: Artist / Creative (Individual)

Lynn Modell/Making Dances was founded in 2015 to help create accessible works for everyone, including people who say they 'can't understand' modern dance.  Her pieces often portray humorous moments of everyday life we can all recognize, perhaps even changing our point of view. That might include challenging the status quo, the frustrations of dating . . . or trying to look cool in a disco even when that's obviously a lost cause! Lynn's work has been commissioned by Across the Ages Dance Project and has been featured at Boston University, The Dance Complex, Green Street Studios, and Boston Center for the Arts.

Lynn Modell is a dancer/choreographer/teacher known for deft use of humor which imbues both her teaching and choreography. She danced with several companies in Boston including Susan Rose and Danceworks, and Boston Dance Collective. Lynn taught dance technique and choreography at Brookline High School for 27 years, serving for 13 years as Chair of Performing Arts.  She teaches dance to adults at Congregation Kehillath Israel in Brookline.  Lynn presented the first dance performance of her choreography, Every Body Dances, in April 2018, The Cocktail Party in 2019, and Interesting Women at the Boston Center for the Arts in 2023.
