Institution/Business Type: Artist / Creative (Individual)

Kate Ten Eyck is an artist, educator, and technician based in Middletown, CT. Her diverse range of work has included sculpture, performance art, drawing, printmaking, musical composition and performance, stop motion animation, and, most recently, tile mosaic.  Ms. Ten Eyck completed her BFA in Sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design and holds an MFA in Printmaking from The Hartford Art School. She has performed and shown work throughout the Eastern region with solo shows at the Paul Mellon Arts Center in Wallingford and the Edward J. Duffy Gallery in New Milford. Recent group shows have included Five Points Gallery in Torrington, CT and the Schick Gallery on the campus of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Ms. Ten Eyck has served as Wesleyan University’s Art Studio Technician since 2000 and as a member of the Studio Art faculty since 2006, where she teaches drawing and printmaking. She continues to help students recognize their creative potential, while always pushing into new territory for herself as an artist.

Married to jazz pianist Noah Baerman, the couple has collaborated on interdisciplinary projects for more than twenty years, most recently a series of performances and animations under the auspices of the non-profit Resonant Motion. The pair also perform and recently released a debut album as the folk-blues duo Stankeye Jones and the Vagabond Librarians, in which she plays the euphonium.

Her latest endeavor is spearheading a public art project in Middletown, CT called Mosaics on Main, bringing her and other artists’ mosaic work to empty storefronts on Main Street. These works will eventually be part of an epic installation beautifying a concrete pedestrian tunnel that connects Downtown Middletown to Harbor Park and the Connecticut River under Route 9. The project will involve multiple artists and hundreds if not thousands of participants, and will celebrate Middletown’s history from the recent past to prehistoric times.
