Jocie Nangle: Singing in Irish Gaelic & English

  • M

    MA

Institution/Business Type: Performing Group

Jocie performs solo and with others, with a focus on Irish traditional music and a special interest in sean-nós singing.  She sings in Irish Gaelic and English, accompanies herself on guitar, and plays Irish flute.  She has a wide range of songs – slow to upbeat, a cappella, and also accompanied. When the setting and song is right, it’s great to have audiences sing along, especially in Irish Gaelic!

Singing and playing in Irish traditional music sessions, time with renowned Irish singers and musicians, study of sean-nós singing and Irish Gaelic, and travel in Ireland, ground Jocie’s understanding of Irish traditional music in the feel of the music and a deep sense of community and culture.
