Healing CPTSD Through Art - HCTA

I am a mixed media LGBTQ artist based in Western Massachusetts. I was born and raised in West Springfield and have a 9-year old daughter that holds my heart. Growing up, I had an art teacher that told me I was, "Doing it wrong". I never thought 40 years later I'd be writing my artist bio. Personally, I don't think one can do art "wrong".

Being a mom has changed me in ways I didn't know were possible. During my motherhood journey, I was diagnosed with CPTSD. I knew I had to help myself in order to be a better mom for my daugher. Art has been a way for me to heal. I incorporate quotes from my journals- writing when experiencing flashbacks has also helped in my healing. Some of the writing is dark, but it's real. 

For those of you with this diagnosis or any other mental illness, I hope the art I create helps you to realize you're not alone.
