Founded in 2021, detritus dance is the collaboration of Claire Lane and Caroline Bradbury, Boston-based dance artists and educators. In their work, Claire and Caroline focus on deconstruction through multidisciplinary forms including movement practices, painting, and collage. They were honored to be Somerville Arts Council ArtAssembled Artists-in-Residence to develop their inaugural work, “in the Ether”, a 30-minute duet exploring biblical lore and their personal histories coming into womanhood in the Roman Catholic faith from a feminist revisionist lens. They have presented work throughout venues in Boston including NACHMO and at Jamaica Plains Porchfest. Claire and Caroline bring a breadth of international perspectives including Gaga, Flying Low, and Devised Physical Theater in their approach to Contemporary dance technique. Currently, detritus dance is expanding its research sourcing text from historical and contemporary feminist authors as choreographic portals.
