Founded in 1995, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CCP) is the only nonprofit organization between New York City and Boston solely dedicated to the art of the print, including printmaking, papermaking, book arts, digital processes, and related disciplines. CCP has become a unique cultural resource, acclaimed and respected by those interested in works on paper. CCP offers free and open to the public exhibitions in its gallery, workshops open to emerging and established artists, an Artist-in-Residency program, and edition printing services.
CCP is located in an historic landmark 19th century stone carriage house in the Mathews Park cultural complex in Norwalk. The space is an architectural gem that has been transformed into an important and dynamic printmaking facility and gallery space. It is fully equipped to accommodate all printmaking techniques: intaglio, lithography, monotype, silkscreen, woodblock printing, papermaking, book arts and digital processes.
CCP hosts world-class historic, contemporary and thematic exhibitions of original prints including alternating biennial international exhibitions attracting submissions from artists around the world. Our education and outreach programs include regularly scheduled multi-day workshops lead by CCP staff printers and invited printmakers and artists, youth instruction in partnership with schools, camps, or other non-profit groups, college and high school internships, artist talks and tours, and on-site participation in community events during which CCP staff and volunteers offer demonstrations and hands-on printmaking activities. CCP maintains an artist-in-residence program hosting artists from around the world at our Helen Frankenthaler Residency Cottage. Artist memberships with studio access are low cost with family and student memberships available with the ability to purchase at cost or low-cost artist materials. Staff printers teach workshops, give lectures and tours, and work one-on-one with interested artists.
CCP is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m.
