Big Lux is a larger-than-life musician changing the way people see the Violin, and the world. His music reflects a life spread across five continents and multiple war zones, with original compositions taking audiences from Baghdad to Seoul to his hometown of Westerly, RI. Classically trained as a child, he blends Hip Hop, Bluegrass, Jazz, and personal life stories to create an experience for his audience instead of a show. Whether he’s playing a nightclub, a corporate event or a wedding, Big Lux delivers a musical performance you can feel.
As much as he loves performing, Big Lux is also passionate about advocating for human rights. Having immersed himself in South American, Asian and Middle Eastern cultures, his love for people is rivaled only by his desire for us to do better as a whole. Both his music and his speaking events are socially conscious, personal and authentic, with an eye always toward a better tomorrow.
Big Lux has performed with WaterFire and the Wilbury Theater and instructed at Trinity Rep and Community Music Works. He is the business manager of the Balliamo Dance Collective. He has performed and spoken at TEDx Providence. Lux is the first Black member of the Westerly, RI Town Planning Board and co-founder of the Westerly Anti-Racist Coalition. He has a bachelor's degree from West Point and an MBA from the University of Miami. He is currently a Major in the US army Reserves.
